Yes I’m reusing the photo
So it looks like my schedule and the weather may actually align this weekend so I’m planning on getting some maintenance and detailing done on the Accord. I’ve seen some people on online forums say that GM Synchromesh is the way to go with Honda MTs rather than the oem Honda fluid. Does anyone here have any prior experience with this? The trans shifts pretty good as is (sometimes 2-3 is a little notchy but not too bad) but with ~135k on the clock I figure it’s time for a change so if the GM fluid will be better I’m willing to give it a shot.

Absolutely correct, based on my own experience and wide consensus on various owner forums. There are two different formulations, however.
You need to get the “friction modified” version. It instantly solved issues I had with my 6-speed Accord (also about 135K) kicking out of third gear. Run, don’t walk.

Previous 07 si owner. Yes. Gm syncromesh. Made like butter. Don’t over think it. It just works SO much better.
Sad that Honda’s 2-3 is still not right. They never officially recognized the problem but I would have thought they'd have improved it by now.

Thanks for the note on the friction modified fluid. Looks like 90% of reviews on Amazon are 5 stars from Honda/Acura people so I’ll be using it.

Google around a bit. This is one of those things where Amazon wasn’t the cheapest option even with Prime. I think I got my last batch from Summit racing. Check either your manual or the forums for the amount you need. I think my 7th gen (versus your 8th) took just under three quarts.

Yeah Amazon had it listed at $ 27/qt or $20/qt depending on part number, which was weird. I’ll try to find it cheaper elsewhere. Service manual quotes 2.0-2.1 qts so I’ll probably just buy 3 to be on the safe side.

There's similar lore in miat a land. One is to use does motorcraft for manual transmission oil, the second is to use shell Estella (diesel!) engine oil.
